More Precious Than Rubies
By Mary Eu

A true friend understands the part of you
That others don’t

More and more people are concerned about nurturing old friendship as they grow older.  We meet and make friends as we make our way through life.  Sometimes we are lucky to pick up friends who will later stand by us forever.
A true friend has an uncanny understanding of one another’s pleasures and problems.  A true friend will be your fellow traveler through all the changes in your life.  A woman needs a stable and close friendship which will enable the woman to release that emotional waistband and pour out their woes when being upset or unfairly treated.  Few elements of true friendship:
·        Listen
·        Commiserate
·        Loyal
·        Not intruding
·        Sympathetic
·        Adroity
·        Steer mind away from dwelling on the negative thoughts
·        Share trumps
·        Neither jealous nor critical
·        Kindred spirits
·        Encourage
·        Lend shoulder to cry on
True friends are more precious than rubies.  They make life much richer and satisfying.  They also make us feel so worthy.  Remember that friendship needs to be nurtured to keep it strong.  Love between friends will able to rehydrate hearts and sustain the friendship.  To nurture is to allow the relationship space to grow.  Between two good friends, there is no need to weigh words.
A close friendship stands on trust
Friendship is being supportive, comforting, sturdy, exhorting and allows you to be yourself.  Friends can talk straight from the heart, knowing that your friend will blow away any bloopers or silliness.

Understanding The Role Of Cholesterol
By Dr Amir Farid Isahak

The incidence of heart disease in most countries is rising.  The main form of heart disease is the narrowing of the coronary arteries due to atherosclerosis.  Coronary arteries are the arteries that nourish the thick heart muscles that have to work continuously throughout life.  Atherosclerosis is the thickening and hardening of the arteries by fat laden plagues.
Atherosclerosis can occur in all the arteries in the body:
Where
Causes
In coronary arteries
Angina and heart attacks
In carotid and brain arteries
Stroke
In leg arteries
Cold feet and claudication (pain due to peripheral arterial disease)
In penis arteries
Erectile dysfunction
In other organs
Reduction in function and gradual shrinkage

The development of heart disease is multi-factorial with some playing bigger roles.  Having one or more risk factors does not mean you have the disease.  There are many tests available to assess heart function.  These include ECG, ultrasound, stress test, CT scan and coronary angiogram.
Much attention has been focused on cholesterol and triglyceries as there has been found to be a correlation between them and heart disease.  Cholesterol is a very important nutrient that is required by our cells, especially to be used as a component of the cell membrane, and also as the raw materials to manufacture many hormones including the steroid hormones and the sex hormones.  The liver and many hormones keep the cholesterol level within a healthy range.
A healthy plant based diet with less meat, exercise and reducing weight have been known to help normalize cholesterol levels.

The Star Says:
The Best Kind Of Happiness Is One Shared By All

Are we really happy?  How happy are we?  Those are that questions that we have to answer frankly.  It should be asked every once in a while.  From time to time we need to analyze that feeling of happiness.  There exists this danger of believing that we are in good shape when in fact we may be getting on a thin diet of low grade happiness.
So, it is important to promote the idea of monitoring the level of happiness.  What do we need to do to monitor even our own happiness?  We may need a very special barometer that reflects what is in the hearts and minds.  But we must bear in mind that one’s person happiness may not be so for another.
People’s happiness can be achieved by addressing aspects such as quality of life and security, health and education, and also employment.  Anyhow the best kind of happiness is when it is shared by everybody, and when a person’s happiness does not come at the expense of another………….

DENNIS INSPIRATION: 20. WE NEED NEW IDEAS

To generate some really new and interesting ideas, you need to have imagination which is important for brainstorming and perception which is important for day to day living.  When we are brainstorming to get ideas, challenge our existing patterns and reach beyond our comfort zone.  we need to jolt the system, force the brain to think in patterns and perceptions that it has no experience or former guidelines to use.
The best way to provoke imagination is to seek out environments you have no experience with.  It has been known that the best idea generators and brainstormers are people who travel frequently, who encounter different approaches and methods, who interact with a wide array of different people.  Yet organization still calls the usual group into a gray, dingy conference room full of the same cues as before.  They don't invite outsiders; they don't want to create pattern interrupts; and they also don't want to change the scenery; thus the same old gang.

Different ideas require different thinking.
Different thinking requires a jolt to the day to day patterns and expectations
that we all carry around with us like baggage.
Jeffrey Phillips

How can we change our thinking patterns to generate new ideas?  It is found that our education and training to logically associate related concepts reduces our ability to add the creative side.  How to nurture and build your creative capabilities:
·         Look for familiar patterns in unrelated fields
·         Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change
·         Think the unthinkable
·         Intention is the seed of creative thinking
·         Change the way you speak, and you change the way you think
·         Become what you pretend to be
Almost every person, bosses we know view creativity as an asset -- until they come across a creative idea.  That's because creativity not only reveals new perspectives; it tends to promote a sense of uncertainty in them.  People say they want creativity but in reality, when creativity hits them in the eye, they often reject it.  Studies' done by Jack Goncalo, ILR School assistant professor of organizational behavior, findings include:
·         Creative ideas are by definition novel, and novelty can trigger feelings of uncertainty that make most people uncomfortable.
·         People dismiss creative ideas in favor of ideas that are purely practical -- tried and true.
·         Objective evidence shoring up the validity of a creative proposal does not motivate people to accept it.
·         Anti-creativity bias is so subtle that people are unaware of it, which can interfere with their ability to recognize a creative idea.

When you change your thinking patterns,
your brain makes new connections
which give you different things to focus on
and different ways to interpret what you are focusing on

Brainstorming, ideation, thinking outside the box, disruption, is the very essence of creative thinking.  New idea cannot be willed.  But new ideas takes time to be accepted.
New ideas lead to change.  Change takes time.  But why?  Resistance to new ideas and changes produce very bad effects.  Shifting from an old view to a new one is never a clean and seamless process.
