Everyone
needs a ‘safety net’ to catch us when we fall.
We need at least three people to form our ‘safety net’. So it is important to seek support from
people around us. Open a door for people
to come in and stand by us. But knowing
who to let in and who to keep out is a trial and error experience.
Seeking
social support will enrich your life. When
life gets overwhelming, it is easy to get dragged under and look at things
through colored lenses. This is the
time when we need trusted people to come in and change our perception of things
and restore objectivity.
There
are many people who care and just waiting for you to respond. Emotional health can only be sustained when
we have a strong support system. The support
system should not be rigid as people come and go. If someone fails you, do not be afraid to
find another helper. It takes a lot of
effort to build a strong net. God did
not create us to be alone. There are
people who are willing to journey with you through the hills and valleys of
life. When you find these people, you
will know that the journey is not that long and hard after all.
