For most of us, the word ‘sales’ and ‘marketing’ means the same thing.  Sales and marketing may come under the same division but the job scope is certainly not the same at all.

SALES	MARKETING
Sakes is very much driven by relationship	Marketing is data driven
Sales people focus on numbers and aim to generate purchases and keep orders flowing	Marketers generates leads, catering and fulfilling customers’ needs and requirements
Sales are all about selling.  Sales people are known to be persuasive	Marketers focus on managing reputation
