USE POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT
The first duty of a leader is optimism.
How does your subordinate feel after meeting with you?
Does he feel uplifted?
If not, you are not a leader.
- Field Marshall, Montgomery -

Most managers are too busy chasing down problems and then criticizing the problematic people who create the problems.
Positive reinforcement is powerful when it comes to guiding and shaping human performance.

TEACH YOUR PEOPLE “NO POWER”
As we look ahead into the next century,
leader will be those who empower others.
- Bill Gates -

The greatest value of planning and goal-setting is that it gives you your own life to live.  It puts you back in charge.  It allows you to focus on what’s most important to you.  Learn to say “Yes” to the things that are important to them, then you’d find that saying “no” to what’s not important will get easier and easier.

It’s so hard when contemplated in advance,
and so easy when you do it
- Robert Pirsig, Philosopher/Author -

It’s so important to use your best time for your biggest challenge.  Many leader are at their best in the first hours of the morning.  Whichever is the best time to shine, invest in into the big challenge.
Most of us confuse pleasure with happiness.  Know ahead of time what is the biggest challenge.  The ultimate source of a leader’s professional happiness is the feeling of accomplishment.

USE 10 MINUTES WELL
Man must not allow the clock and the calendar
to blind him to the fact that
each moment of his life is a miracle and a mystery
- H. G. Wells -

KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO GROW
Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments
- Jim Rohn, Business Philosopher -

Most managers place there things above the “plan” in their priority hierarchy:
·         Not upsetting other people’s feelings
·         The commitment to looking extremely busy
·         Fire-fighting and problem solving
·         Explaining and justifying other people’s performance
·         Being liked
Most meetings focus on the obstacles to success.  Why not focus on growing.

47
SOFTEN YOUR HEART
He is only advancing in life
whose heart is getting softer,
his blood warmer,
his brain quicker, and
his spirit entering into living peace
- John Raskin, Art and social critic -

People who really succeed in leadership transform the entire activity away from the concept of managing into the day-to-day concept of building relationships.  Always think in terms of relationship with other person:
·         To make it better
·         To serve better
·         To contribute more
·         To demonstrate commitment
·         Make them happier
·         Make information easier to excess.
A leader knows that communication solves almost all problems.  Avoidance worsens all problems.
According to master teacher Lance Secretin:
Leaderships is not so much about technique and methods as it is about opening the heart.  Leadership is about inspiration - of oneself and of others.
Great leadership is about human experiences, not processes.
Leadership Is not a formula or a program, it is a human activity that comes from the heart and considers the heart of others.

48
COACH YOUR PEOPLE TO COMPLETE
Nothing is so fatiguing
as the external hanging on of an uncomplete task.
- William James, Psychologist/Philosopher -

Everything that is incomplete in your life is an energy drain.  It is stopping you from creating more business.  It’s draining productivity, imagination and vitality away.  Clean up those incomplete and their motivation will surprise you.

49
DO THE MATH ON YOUR APPROACH
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give
- Winston Churchill -

When you are a positive leader with positive thoughts about the future and the people you lead, you add something to every person you talk to.  You bring something of value to every communication.  Because positive (+) always adds something.  Negative thoughts rob you of your energy.  Your own strength and energy motivates others.
We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same
- Carlos Castaneda –

50
COUNT YOURSELF IN
To decide to be at the level of choice, is to take responsibility for your life and to be in control of your life
- Arbie M. Dale, Psychologist/Author -

Leader who take ownership motivate more effectively.  It makes life interesting, it make work a better experience and it’s more fun.  True leadership inspires a spirit of buy-in.
True leaders are rare.  They take the lead, not waiting for the company to give something good to follow.
A great individual will always be more creative than the company as a whole.
