BAREFOOT LEADERSHIP
THE ART AND
HEART OF GOING THAT EXTRA MILE
ALVIN UNG
INTRODUCTION
Ordinary
people who inspire and motivate others to achieve extraordinary things by:
- Getting the best from their people
- Grounding their basic principles and values in their lives that guide them forward
- Going one step at a time and bring everyone else with them
- Knowing what it is like to walk in someone else’s shoes
- Possessing empathy and compassion
- Choosing not to stay ‘up there’ and choosing to walk on the ground
Barefoot
leaders are ordinary people who inspire others to go that extra mile with them
in order to achieve greater goods. No one
can become a great leader by trying to be like someone else.
Five
stages of evolution as a Barefoot leader:
You need
both ART and HEART to rise to the highest levels. The ART focuses on what the leader needs to
do. It focuses on knowledge that translates
into behaviors, skills and actions. Character
cannot always be changed. But by practicing
the ART, the thinking and HEART will ultimately be influenced.
The HEART
focuses on who the leader needs to be. The
focus is on knowing one’s self identity, habits, thought patents, mindset and
values. By practicing the HEART, the
attitudes and values inside will influence who you are on the outside (your
ART).
