SERENDIPITY

The ability to make important discoveries or connections by accident has been changing lives through history.  Sometimes serendipity can be nothing more than a stroke of good luck.  At other times, a chance happening can be somewhat more engineered.

Serendipity came when, in the moment of frustration.  We can all pinpoint a moment of serendipity in our lives.  But it does seem that some people are more open to serendipity than others.  They find themselves in situations where something unexpected happens, and they are more likely to recognise and exploit the lucky coincidence.

The key is to recognise serendipity.  Sometime, big business has been harnessing the power of serendipity.  People are starting to realise that serendipity can set people free.  It can help to make them more creative and more agile and less stressed.  It’s about implementing the kind of values that don’t dismiss ideas that come up unexpectedly.

Technology is helping all of us to increase our chances of serendipitous encounters.  Many serendipitous discoveries are made when people are out of their usual environments.
SUGGESTION BRINGING SERENDIPITY INTO YOUR LIFE
BY DR STEPHEN MAKAI
  • Make mental space.  Change your environment, go for a walk.
  • Vary your routine; meet new people, adapt your interest, travel to new places, join a club.
  • Be observant: keep your eyes and ears open
  • Relax your boundaries: try new places, new ideas.
  • Draw on previous experiences: make links to what you have learn before.
  • Look for patterns: try to make sense out of the chaos of the world.
  • Seek opportunities: when something unexpected happens, take the time and the effort to capitalize on it.
