This is a story about Eve and her family, The Croods,
lIving in the days of caveman. The 6
family members spend their days and nights in the cave, only going out for
food. It comes to these after their all
their neighbors died in dangerous incidents.
The father as the leader of the family, take charge and responsibility,
making them follow his rules to ensure their survival.
THE SURVIVOR TRAITS OF
THE CROODS:
Recognize father as leader
Establish rules and regulation
Conservative
Rules and orders are to be followed
Leader taught everything
Complacent with life as it is
Live in their own society/world
Stick to routine
Everything changed when Eve, who was always
fascinated by the light, met a boy named Guy.
Guy brought news that the world they’re living in is coming to destruction,
thus they have to find a new world. This
fact is hard for the father to digest until the mountains they live in starts
to cave-in.
Embarking on their journey to the new world, the
Croods learned a lot in facing changes and adapting to Guy. The few roads of changes that they
experienced were:
1
|
The decision the Crood have to make
In this
situation the Croods have no choice but to move out of their world if they
want to survive. It’s difficult for
them, in this case the father as the leader, to make the decision since they
like the routine that they have lived all their lives. But as the situation gets dangerous, they
have no choice but to make the decision to move on.

Treading the journey with cautious

Croods have ever only live in their cave, everything is new to them, even
fire is a fascination. They saw many
new things, new creatures, the greens, unknown to them. They have to face new challenges to reach
their destination safely.

Facing changes
|
i.
The denial stage
In The Croods, the leader is the
one that is in the denial stage while everybody else wants to move on. During this stage the father still wants to
keep some of the traditional way, rules and routines like sleeping in caves, telling
the same old stories and using the same method of getting food.
|
|
ii.
The unfreezing stage
This
is where they learn to trust Guy.
Letting him free from their captive after they bare-footedly stumbled
upon sharp thorny plants, while Guy has foot wear. So the trust process begins with guy negotiating
his idea and knowledge with his freedom.
Here they learned new things and their routine starts to change.
THIS IS WHERE THE CROODS LEARNED
Trust
New idea
New ways of travelling
Letting each the freedom to participate in making
decisions
Giving people some space to try new ideas and ways
Make new friends along the way
The dad, as a leader, also have lessons
learned:
Admiring that his idea may not be the best
Imitating to get attention thus also
creative with innovation while trying to do so
Know when to apply the rules
Learn new things from the young
Learn to appreciate
Be understanding and loving
always be there for your loves ones

iii.
The freezing stage
After a while, father Croods
accept that they must change to survive.
The father realizes that there are great lessons learned:
- able to use abilities more wisely
- more visible in displaying
father’s love
accepting that everybody love him and wants him to change with them

Understanding change
Change is difficult thing to the father Croods.
Finally he’s able to understand that
he has to go through change to survive.
When he has accepted change, their journey towards the destination is much
easier when they believe in the success of the mission and work together
towards it.
Even tiger became lovable when it knows
that they is no way for them to survive if it keep chasing father Croods.

|
The family
too finally understand that everything the father as a leader did was, out of
the love for the family. With change
they are able to achieve the dreams even when at times things seems to look impossible.
