THE TRICKY PART IS WE DON’T GET A SECOND CHANCE TO
MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION
While
we are taught not to judge a book by its cover, a Princeton University study
found that our brains conclude if a person is trust-worthy or beautiful in one
tenth of a second. Psychologist Alex
Todorov discovered that human brains respond to focus so quickly that our
reasoning mind may not have time to influence.
The study by Todorov shows that people make judgement about the
attractiveness, likeability, trustworthiness and aggressiveness after looking
at people’s faces for 100 milliseconds.
Individual
are encourage to cultivate the right look to suit occasions because so much
rides on the first impression. According
to Bon Zainal (local fashion designer image consultant), whether we like it or not, clothes speak for us.
Never under estimate the power of
clothes. Dressing is one of the few
areas left in life that is still under our control. Smile and showcase a pleasant personality. Looking one’s best is super important when out
job-hunting.
The
ability to put your best foot/face forward really counts. A good smile and positive attitude are
important qualities needed when dealing with customer. Apart from accurate understanding of
customer’s needs, you also need to have a good interpersonal skills.
Candidates
for all sorts of profession must portray the right image and appearance. An inexhaustible smile coupled with energy to
provide excellent services are plus.
Paying
close attention to guest helps build relationship. A smile helps give the extra edge in business. Thus, according to Sir Richard Branson,
creating a culture of openness can make a big difference to employees and
customer.
A
picture says a thousand words so, remember to be selective about the photo you
use. Think of something that make you
stand out more.
