Define your priorities, screen out distractions and knows
what’s worth fighting for
As work starts to pile up, we
feel overwhelmed as deadlines draws closer and it becomes a challenge to be
fully present when we have all these work hanging over our heads as ‘unfinished
business’. We then start regretting the
impulsive decisions made earlier. The trick
here is to learn to say ‘no’.
It’s all about knowing what the
priorities are. It may even help to
write them down in order of importance. Work
on what’s most important and urgent. Screening
out distractions is easier said than done.
So pick and choose what is vital.
Do not overload ourselves with appointments which also include meetings
that we feel maybe time-wasters.
Time is precious and our weekends
are a classic case in point, especially for the workaholics who need to slow
down or stop and smell the roses. Respect our weekends and the quality time we
may not have during the week to do the things we really want to do or see the
people we want to see. There are some things
clearly worth fighting for. We need to
pay more attention to our priorities and our tired bodies, including our gut
instinct. Sometimes saying ‘no’ is
essential to respect our own time and space.
