100 WAYS
NOTES
81.
CREATE A VISION
The reason most major goals are not achieved is that we spend our time doing second thing first.
-Robert J. Mckain, Management Consultant-

Create a Vision that you can talk about every day; not just a framed statement on the wall that no one can relate to.

82.
STOP LOOKING OVER YOUR SHOULDER
Courage is not the absence of fear,
but rather the judgement that
something else is more important than fear.
-Ambrose Redmoon, American Philosopher-

Great leadership by example comes from getting independently better at what they do, and not living in anticipation of other people’s opinion of them.

83
LEAD BY SELLING
Everyone lives by selling something
-Robert Louis Stevenson-

Ask for what you want.  Be very direct with your requests.  Have your communication centred on requests and promises.  Make strong, specific request in trying to get a strong, specific promise in return.

84
HOLD ON TO PRINCIPLE
In matters of style, swim with the current,
in matters of principles, stand like a rock
-Thomas Jefferson-

Earn your people’s respect as respect is stronger.  When respect runs deep, you may end up being loved.

85
CREATE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS
A life of reaction is a life of slavery, intellectually and spiritually.
One must fight for a life of action, not reaction
-Rita Mac Brown, Mystery Author-

We need to start seeing the possibilities for creatively relating to others instead of just reacting to them.

86
DON’T BE AFRAID TO MAKE REQUESTS
As your enter positions of trust and power,
dream a little before you think
-Toni Morrison, Author-

Ask for what you want.  Communicate the good news from the top management.  Teach your team the power of request.

87
DON’T CHANGE YOURSELF
It take tremendous act of courage
to admit to yourself that
you are not defective in anyway what so ever
-Cheri Huber, Author/Zen Philosepher-

You don’t need to change.  All you need is a gentle shift.  It’s like shifting the car gears.  For your mind to take you to the next level of leadership performance, all you need to do shift gears.

88
PUMP UP YOUR EMAILS
No pessimist ever discovered the secrets of the stars,
or sailed to and uncharted land,
or opened a new heaven to the human spirit.
-Helen Keller-

Every email communication sent is an opportunity.
Email is a cold medium.  There is no voice tone in it.  There is no twinkle in the eye, or warmth of expression.  So email feel chilly to the recipient.
Every communication from a manager to an employee as an opportunity to instil optimism.  Take the extra minute and change negative tone to a positive one.
Behavioural studies show that positive reinforcement works more than 7 times better than negative criticism to change behaviour.  Negative criticism causes resentment, depression, anger and sabotage.

89
SHOP PUSHING
Pull the sting, and it will follow wherever you wish.
Push it, and it will go nowhere at all
-Dwight D. Eisenhower-

Blend the inner forces, not force against force.  Guide your people’s inner energy to words a mutual goal.

90
BECOME CONCIOUS
A boss create fear, a leader confidence,
A boss Fixes blame a, leader correct mistake.
A boss know all, a leader ask question,
A boss make work drudgery, a leader makes it interesting,
-Rusell H. E Ming, Auther-

There are qualities in you that people would say about.  You may have already internalized and modelled yourself after the leaders you admired subconsciously.
The trick is to make is conscious.
