Ways to manage stress

Take it easy and don’t
let stress get the better of you. Stress
affect people differently; some become anxious or defensive, others become
depressed or withdrawn. The first step
in managing stress is to identify its sources. You can than decide whether to change the
situation or alter how you react to it. No
single method works for everyone in every situation.
Some of the techniques
you can adopt:
i.
Avoid
unnecessary stress

Learn
to say “no”
·
Do
not take more than you can possibly handle
·
Reassess
priorities
·
Drop
task that are not necessary

Either
put them at the bottom of the list or eliminate them entirely.

Work
around the problem
·
Learn
to compromise
·
Meet
people halfway
·
Practise
better time management
·
Make
a list of “to do’s”
·
Set
aside a fixed amount of time to complete them

Change
your expectation
·
Look
at the bigger picture
·
Adjust
your standards
·
Do
not demand perfection
iv.
Accept
what you can’t change
·
Focus
on things you can control
·
Share
your feelings

time for yourself
