Many employers are unaware that some
staff may have to commute long distances to get to work. Some have to do so with public
transport. An eight-hour working day
could be nothing less than 10 or 11 hours in such situations. We could not change these circumstances, but
we could certainly learn to appreciate their services more.
It is important therefore, that we are
sensitive to the people around us and to see
things with our heart and not just our eyes. To enable us to see the full picture, we need
to step back so we can move forward. Look
beyond ourselves and imagine what’s it must be like in another person’s
shoes before we comment. We have to
learn from the story of the man who complained he had no shoes until he saw a
man with no legs.
