The demonstration of affection was always hungered.  When it is not readily bestow on anyone of us, we would start to wonder why we were less loved.  Loved is not easy to quantity or measure.  But love is always hungered for.  The feeling of less love can caused a child to fell worthless, unlovable, insecure, and even damaged.  Failing to express love and affection, qualities as a form of abuse.

We are all shaped by our childhood experiences.  Studies have shown that we are more susceptible to emotional turmoil and psychological disorders when our foundation years are worked by negativity.  Love your children fairly, if not equally.  Hug them often, be there for them.  A mother needs to bond with her baby and the power of touch in conveying love should not be underestimated.

There is more evidence than ever that a mother’s love acts as a template for love itself.  It has far reaching effects on the child’s development and ability to love throughout life.  Psychotherapist Sue Gerhardt, in her book: Why Love Matters, says our adult life is influenced by infancy despite our inability to remember babyhood.  The development of the brain can affect future emotional being.

A healthy self-esteem is a child’s shield against the challenges and obstacles that come their way in life.  Children who are happy and confident are better equipped to handle conflicts and cope with pressure.  Parents attack their child emotional development and sense of self-work when they fail to provide an environment that assures the child of love and security.  No amount of expensive toys can replace your love although they may not realize it themselves.
