Many would
agree that fear of making mistakes takes up the highest level of fear, followed
by failure to deliver effectively, fear of giving the wrong information and
fear that the audience will be bored with your presentation. The fear starts with you and will stay with
you if you do not anything to overcome it.
The fear
comes from the presenter alone. The audience
never has this feeling of fear when they are listening. But they will be able to sense the fear,
nervousness and anxiousness through the tone of voice and body language if you
fail to hide it. When you are too
nervous, message is being sent to the brain about your worry.
Here are
some strategies for you to use that may help the brain to process the message
of nervousness and anxiousness sent to the brain, thus enabling it to control
the whole body to feel were relax:

Understand the audience

The audience are there to
listen and learn from you

They are not there to judge or evaluate
your presentation skill
·
Remember:

you are the delivery method for
them to get the information
o
you are in control of the
situation

Only you know the script
·
Always prepare your content so as not to give the wrong
information

Grammatical mistakes or wrong sentence structure is the
normal consequences in any presentation
·
The process of learning will take place when you know
mistake
·
Remember:

learn and try not to make the same mistakes again
o
in most situation the audience does not even realize the
mistake

To be a
presenter, you have to go through the process of overcoming the fear, anxious
feeling and nervousness. Always prepare
well. It needs time to be perfect. And again ‘Practice Make Perfect’.
