WORKING ON STAFF WELL-BEING

New Entrepreneurs want their staff to be happy and productive.  They want to be able to achieve that balance of happiness and productivity.  In recent years, some companies have tried innovative approaches to achieve the balance.  Some taking advantage of advances in technology and changes in our society.

At Virgin the policies in place focuses on the importance of employees well -being.  They have taken 2 big steps which are:
1.      Offering employees at our head offices unlimited annual leave
2.      Offering them flexible work schedules.

Every company and its staff is a little different. There is no one-size fits all solution.  The basis of the best initiatives is to treat people with more respect and give them more responsibility.

Be bold.  Do not be afraid to try new things.  Just let your team know what you’re doing.  Get feedback from your staff.  It’s ok to reverse or make changes.  The most important thing is that you’re looking for solutions that work for everyone in the company.

It’s true that you can’t please everyone all of the time.  Giving people choices, rather than a rigid set of rules to follow, will ensure a feeling of empowerment across teams.

Embrace your employees’ individuality.  Their family commitments, extracurricular activities, different health requirement and other aspect if their personal lives should be well viewed and taken. Into consideration after all, successful companies have diverse staff.  Above all, keep in mind that a business is a collection of people.

If you make sure your people have the time and support they need, you’ll set them and your company up for success in the long term.
