ROMANCING RITUALS

Professor Jefrey Hall of Kansas University has identified 5 flirting archetypes: physical, playful, polite, sincere and traditional.  He found that everyone is typically a mix of the 5 styles, but one style is usually dominant.

There is no right or wrong way to flirt.  Know how to express your romantic interest in someone is invaluable because it gives clues to why you end up in the relationships.  Knowing your flirtatious tendencies also can help you steer clear of behaviour that could be making others run away.

Flirt Types	Characteristics
Physical	·         Relies on body language to communicate sexual interest ·         Like to go to clubs to dance with strangers ·         Always looking for signs of flirting and sexual interest from other people ·         Think of themselves as being more physically attractive than the people around them ·         Likely to assume the person they’re flirting with is interested when actually they are not ·         End up stepping on toes and making people feel uncomfortable ·         Develop a relationship quickly and have more sexual chemistry with their partners
Polite	·         Never getting the picture ·         Cautious ·         Have longer, more meaningful romantic relationships
Playful	·         Thinks the bar is the n=best place to start a relationship ·         Enjoy the sport of flirting ·         Have little interest in romance ·         Flirt for flirting’s sake, no strings attached
Sincere	·         Wants to make an emotional connection with a romantic partner ·         Enjoys the getting-to-know-you phase ·         Ask a lot of questions and pay attention to answers ·         Has meaningful relationships where emotional connection comes first, sexual chemistry comes second
Traditional	·         Believes that women shouldn’t be too forward, men should take the lead – make the first move, open doors, pick up the tab
