Days
passed and Ismail a.s. grew up in Mecca valley amongst the Jurhum tribe. Ibrahim a.s. to visit him and Hajar on more
occasion every year. During one of these
regular visits, Ibrahim a.s. had a dream while sleeping in Mecca. He saw himself slaughtering his son Ismail
a.s. Ismail a.s. fully know that as a
prophet, his father’s dream was a means of inspiration from Allah s.w.t. He did not hesitate nor did he argue.
Father
and son were ready to execute Allah’s command.
Ismail a.s. requested that his father direct his forehead towards the
ground so that he could not see Ismail’s a.s. face. Ibrahim a.s. took the knife and laid it on
Ismail’s neck. He pulled the knife but
it did not cut. Ibrahim a.s. pressed and
pulled. Ismail a.s. pleaded with his
father to pull the knife. He pressed and
pulled but the knife simply would not cut.
Ibrahim
a.s. then heard a call. He looked around
and found the angel Jibrail a.s. and with him was a ram from heaven.
