Blood clots, technically known as deep vein thrombosis
(DVT), are caused by trauma or recent surgery.
Pulmonary embolism (PE) is the dreaded complication of blood clot. PE is when the clot breaks off and travels
back to the heart and lodges in the lung.
If not treated or its big enough, it can lead to heart failure,
compromise in heart function and death.
Clotting occurs when blood is more stagnant and when you’re
dehydrated. 3 factors that caused blood
clot are:
- Poor blood flow
- If blood is stagnant, it will form a clot as its not flowing as it should
- Hyper coagulativity
- Blood is stickier and tend to form clots
- Some cancer and medication can cause it too
- Injury to blood vessel
- Biggest factors are recent trauma or recent surgery
