BOOSTING MORALE IN THE WORKPLACE



Research has shown that productivity plummets in an office environment where workers suffer from low morale.  The causes are often:
  • lack of appreciation and rewards
  • management with top-down approach
  • lack of work-life balance
  • lack of team bonding
  • dull working environment
 Factors that can help achieve high morale in the office:
1.         Fostering open communication
·         helps understand people better
·         build better rapport
2.         Show public appreciation
·         show recognition for any good work achieved by employees
·         it goes a long way in motivating others to reach for the stars
3.         Work-life balance
·         all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy
·         employees could be stuck in a routine
4.         Team bonding
·         no man is an island
·         everyone is required to work together in a team
5.         Just like home
·         when work environment is comfortable, employees will fell motivated
6.         Rewards and gifts
·         small gestures that brighten up someone’s day
7.         Eradicate all gloomers
·         it only takes one person to spoil the office mood
·         they are the type that constantly complain that nothing is ever right but never take action to improve their situation
8.         Show respect
·         respect is earned, not demanded
·         show respect and it will be returned, the result will be harmonious, vibrant and productive working environment
