4.         LEADERSHIP IS EARNED: THE DIFFICULTIES OF ‘‘BECOMING’’ EXCELLENT LEADERS

Most managers can become excellent leaders.  Some people who aspire to be excellent leader sometimes feel that they have to be bossy to survive.  The few tips to remind leaders what they need to keep in view:
 
  1. Aware of, not just their own important role, but how everyone else fits it.
  2. Not being too self-important to ask advice of the people to lead.
  3. Give people the confidence to speak out when they think there are issues which top management needs to know about.
  4. Don’t frightened people into silence.
  5. Let people know their opinions are listened to with due respect.
  6. figure out how to unlock that (3 – 4) in people.
  7. Don’t be a corporate apparatchik.
  8. Learn to cope with rapid change.
  9. Minimize errors and mistakes.
  10. Working with a greater rotation of people to acquire new ideas and challenge existing norms.
  11. Pay attention to feedbacks.
  12. Be consistent, clear communication with the team in order to build a comprehensive approach to getting the job done.
  13. Remember, there is no ‘‘I’’ in team.
  14. Build consensus that dilutes decision making and minimizes impact.
